Quantum Device Theorist,Rigetti
Description
As a Quantum Device Theorist, you will be a key contributor to the performance of our quantum processors. You will work in close collaboration with our experimental teams to model the quantum dynamics of our QPUs. You will drive the improvement of quantum operations fidelity on our R&D platform and the stabilization of performance on our QPUs deployed over the cloud. You will collaborate with specialists in quantum algorithms, control systems, superconducting circuit design and fabrication to contribute to our continuous effort toward quantum advantage and quantum error correction.
Why it's cool
I think that this job is going to have a lot of simulation of quantum systems which are challenging mathematically and computationally. The focus is also on knowing scientific python, so you know you won't be coding for coding sake - it will be to discover and analyze behaviors of physical things. It's a dreamy actually.

Flight Software Engineer at Elodin (W24),Elodin
Description
As a flight software engineer, you will be working on Elodin's core flight software framework. You will be writing code that flies on drones, satellites, and rockets. You will get to work on the full flight software stack, from low-level drivers to computer vision systems.
Why it's cool
There is a lot of simulation work that will require hard mathematical skills, but also the company looks to be very scientific and technical, so you will learn a lot and get to do a lot as well.

Motion Planning & Controls Intern at Odys Aviation (S21),Odys Aviation
Description
The Motion Planning & Controls Intern will contribute to the development of advanced navigation systems for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and future passenger aircraft. This internship emphasizes the development, testing and implementation of motion planning and controls software to achieve precise navigation over longer distances without relying solely on GPS. The intern will participate in a proof of concept project aimed at advancing navigation technology in aviation.
Why it's cool
An internship at a startup like this will give you tons, and I mean TONS of cool projects experience that will involve your mathematical and problem solving skills all the time. If you are a student, or about to graduate... This is a no brainer.

Software Engineer at Vorticity (S19),Vorticity
Description
As a core software developer, you will directly impact how scientific computing applications are executed on CPUs, GPUs to our own hardware. In this position, you will develop software for compilation, optimization, execution, acceleration, debugging, profiling, and/or integration of scientific computing applications.
Why it's cool
There are not too many places where a Partial Differential Equations math person can go and encounter PDEs outright in their day to day.... This is one of those rare occassions where you will do and probably learn a lot about numerical methods for differential equations, and all the things that go deep into what makes these methods powerful. If you are a PDE person, this is for you.
